BROTHER SUN, SISTER MOON

Actors: Graham Faulkner, Judi Bowker, Leigh Lawson, Kenneth Cranham, Lee Montague, Valentina Cortese, Alec Guinness, Michael Feast, Nicholas Willatt, John Sharp, Adolfo Celi, Peter Firth and Robin Askwith
Year: 1972
Genre: Biography, Drama, History and War
Conclusion: 4/5
I think this is one of the greatest films ever made. It is a very stunning and beautiful film. Apparently, it is quoted in Franco Zeffirelli’s autobiography, that The Beatles were asked to appear in this movie in the main roles, but were unable due to scheduling conflicts. Zeffirelli screen tested Al Pacino for the role of Francesco, but rejected him due to his theatrical overacting style. This is a theatrical movie debut of Peter Firth. Actor Laurence Olivier was offered the part of Pope Innocent III but turned it down. Just some of the themes that are present are Spiritual Awakening, Love and Sacrifice and Community and Fellowship.
