Directed by Nicholas Hytner who also directed The Lady in the Van (2015). Both adapted from a novel by Alan Bennett. The Choral has a fantastic cast list with the likes of Ralph Fiennes, Roger Allam and Simon Russell Beale. I enjoyed this film although there were scenes that I didn’t think worked quite as well as others. I am not sure about the way that Elgar was being portrayed. A classic British film on the same wavelength as The Full Monty (1997). Some of the themes the film focuses on are war, class, religion and grief and loss. I was happy to see that the Battenberg made an appearance in the story!!
