The Valley (Obscured by Clouds)

THE VALLEY (OBSCURED BY CLOUDS)

Review: Viviane, the unhappy wife of a French politician, meets an intriguing adventurer Olivier, the leader of a band of backpacking hippies while she is taking part in an expedition in New Guinea. She decides to join him and the others on a journey into the unknown.
Director: Barbet Schroeder
Actors: Bulle Ogier, Jean-Pierre Kalfon, Michael Gothard and Valerie Lagrange
Year: 1972
Genre: Adventure and Drama
Conclusion: 4/5
This film is regarded as a cult classic. When this film was first released it was rated an X certificate for its nudity and adult themes. I have to say that this film isn’t for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed the musical soundtrack by Pink Floyd although apparently the filmmakers fell out with the band by the end of the film. Film critic Mark Kermode quoted about this film “At the end can you see the valley?”.
