The original title is Contes immoraux. Directed by Walerian Borowczyk who is a Polish animator and film-maker. This film has themes in of sex, religion, murder and incest. When this film was released it was initially rejected outright by the BBFC. This became a huge popular hit in France. To this very day it is one of those films with critics that is still very divisive. Film critic Mark Kermode asks this question “Art or exploitation? Watch it and decide for yourself.”
