Godzilla

GODZILLA

Review: Godzilla is a long dormant dinosaur-like beast awoken by the atomic bomb that then terrorizes Japan.
Director: Ishiro Honda
Actors: Takashi Shimura, Akihiko Hirata, Akira Takarada, Momoko Kochi, Toranosuke Ogawa, Seijiro Onda, Toyoaki Suzuki, Kokuten Kodo, Haruo Hakajima and Kin Sugai
Year: 1954
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Horror and Sci-Fi
Conclusion: 5/5
A Japanese classic. This is most arguably the definitive monster movie. This is Japan’s first foray into big budget sci-fi. To make this film it cost twice as much as Seven Samurai (1954). The Godzilla suit used for the film was so hot inside that suit actor Haruo Hakajima would frequently faint. Apparently, temperatures inside the suit reached up to 60 degrees Celsius. In 2004, the year of its 50th anniversary, Godzilla was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
