Notes On Blindness

NOTES ON BLINDNESS

Review: After losing his sight in the summer of 1983, just days before the birth of his first son, university lecturer John Hull began keeping a diary on audiocassette to make sense of all the changes.
Director: Peter Middleton and James Spinney
Actors: John M. Hull, Marilyn Hull, Miranda Beinart-Smith, Jamie Bradley, Eileen Davies, Simone Kirby, Dan Renton Skinner and Lorelei Winterfrost
Year: 2016
Genre: Documentary and Drama
Conclusion: 4/5
This film reminded me of the film The Arbor (2010) in the way that they used actors lip-syncing to the audiotapes. I absolutely loved Notes on Blindness and at the end of it I felt completely moved by the whole experience. I thought it was a really uplifting film. On the back of the dvd cover it quotes “It is a poetic account of loss, rebirth and renewal”. I just wish more people could get to see it.
