Fantastic performances from both Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry. The late film critic Roger Ebert rated it as the best film of 2001, stating that it “has the complexity of great fiction”. At the Academy Awards in 2002 this won one Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Halle Berry).
