Conclusion: 5/5
I loved this film. I thought the cast were fantastic. I never thought for one second that the actors were acting. I felt that the whole story narrative was so real and believable. I got the sense of what all the characters were going through. This film is about teenage friendships and what family really means. Even though when watching this film the subject matter is so grim there are also elements of joy. This could almost be seen as a documentary. Sarah Gavron also directed the film Suffragette (2015). I am not saying this in a negative way but Rocks did remind me very much of the French film Girlhood (2014). At the Bafta Awards in 2021 this won 1 award for Best Casting.
