FRANK

Review: Jon, a young wanna-be musician, who finds himself out of his depth when he joins an eccentric pop band led by Frank who wears a giant fake head.
Director: Lenny Abrahamson
Actors: Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Moira Brooker, Paul Butterworth, Phil Kingston, Scoot McNairy, Francois Civil, Carla Azar, Mark Huberman and Rosalind Adler
Year: 2014
Genre: Comedy, Drama and Music
Conclusion: 4/5
I love Lenny Abrahamson and I think he is an exceptional director. I have to say that I think this is Michael Fassbender’s best film. His performance is terrific. When he first heard of the existence of the screenplay, Michael Fassbender himself approached the producers to let them know that he was really keen to do the film. I also love Domhnall Gleeson. Apparently, the part of Frank was originally written with Johnny Depp in mind. I thought that the script was really well written. I loved the music and I thought that the songs worked really well. I now have the soundtrack as one of my main albums on Spotify! Some of the themes that are visible are identity as his true self remains hidden, authenticity, isolation and the biggest one being social media and fame. There are plenty of laughs to have plus at the end I did find it to be very moving.
