Outstanding performance from Cillian Murphy. Lovely to see that Jason Bourne is on the case! My favourite scenes were between Cillian Murphy and Matt Damon. Matt Damon actually decided to take a year off film but as soon as he got a phone call from Christopher Nolan he couldn’t refuse the offer. This is Robert Downey Jr.’s favourite film of his own. I have to say that I found myself really confused with where I was location and date wise. I found it wasn’t clear. I also found that the running time of this film 3 hours far too long. It might just be me but I found it hard to know what Cillian Murphy was saying the whole time. Whether it was his diction or the sound effects I am not quite sure. At the end of the film I didn’t find myself being at all emotional or even caring about any of the characters involved. Apparently, this film has now surpassed Saving Private Ryan (1998) as the highest-grossing World War II film domestically, and has also surpassed Christopher Nolan’s own Dunkirk (2017) as the highest-grossing World War II film worldwide. On the BBFC website I came across this question…when J. Robert Oppenheimer and team were making the atom bomb was it to ensure world peace or bring about the destruction of humankind? At the Bafta Awards in 2024 this won 7 awards. They were for Best Film, Best Director, Best Leading Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Original Score. At the Golden Globe Awards this won this won 5 awards. They were for Best Original Score, Motion Picture, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture (Robert Downey Jr.) and Best Director, Motion Picture and Best Motion Picture, Drama. At the Academy Awards in 2024 this won seven Oscar’s. They were for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Cillian Murphy), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Cinematography, Best Directing (Christopher Nolan), Best Film Editing, Best Music (Original Score) and Best Picture.
