I have to say that I really wanted to like this film. It is a film I watched but found myself not enjoying it. Even though this is an outstanding performance from Cate Blanchett there have been other films where she has been better. Watching this film I believed in her character. Apparently, Cate Blanchett had to learn how to conduct for this film, had to re-learn the piano and learned how to speak German. There are interesting ideas in the film but I felt they never really got off the ground. I did think that there would be a grand finale at the end of the film. I was disappointed the way it ended. I thought I would come away at the end of the film having learnt about a piece of classical music. The film for me was far too long. I also felt that the film was made just to get Oscar/Bafta awards. At the Bafta Awards in 2023 Cate Blanchett won for Best Leading Actress. At the Golden Globe Awards in 2023 Cate Blanchett won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.
