I think this is an excellent film and more impressively the fact it was made during the war is even more spectacular. Apparently, the budget of this film was £500,000 making it the most expensive ever production at the time. The 10-minute battle scene took six weeks to film. The most famous quote in the film is King Henry V “I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, straining upon the start. The game’s afoot. Follow your spirit, and upon this charge, cry ‘God for Harry, England and Saint George!’.” The late film critic Barry Norman produced a list in the Radio Times of his 50 Best British Films and this was listed as one of them. At the Academy Awards in 1947 Laurence Olivier won an Honorary Award for his outstanding achievement as actor, producer and director in bringing ‘Henry V’ to the screen.
