The first thing I want to say is how dark and scary this is. I was rather surprised that it was only a PG. I would not recommend this film for children. Also, it is not based on the story of Pinocchio as the one we all know. Director, Paul Thomas Anderson was originally on board to direct but dropped out. I did lose interest when it started getting really political. Not many young children or young adults would get that story narrative. When this movie was first in production, actors Christopher Walken and Daniel Radcliffe were considered to have their voices in the film, but left due to schedule conflicts. I very much enjoyed the musical score by the great Alexandre Desplat. By the end of the film I did feel very moved. Most of the themes that are involved greatly are to do with life and death and the father – son relationship. At the Academy Awards in 2023 this won 1 Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film. At the Bafta Awards in 2023 this won 1 award for Best Animated Feature Film. At the Golden Globe Awards in 2023 this won 1 award for Best Motion Picture – Animated.
