Conclusion: 3/5
Directed by John Michael McDonagh whose imdb also includes the incredible Calvary (2014). I would not go as far to say that this film is brilliantly made but it is a good solid well-made film. The Forgiven is based on a novel by Lawrence Osborne. He actually has a brief cameo near the beginning of the film. Both Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain give good performances. The only thing I have to say was that I did find it a bit too long. There are some scenes that could have been shorter or edited. The themes explored in this are white privilege, good and evil, redemption and retribution.
