A SYRIAN LOVE STORY

Review: A true life story of Raghda and Amer filmed over five years of their lives in Syria.
Director: Sean McAllister
Year: 2015
Genre: Art House, Drama and International
Conclusion: 4/5
One of the most powerful heartbreaking stories you will ever watch. The themes that are very much in evidence in this film are hope, this meaning the whole journey, the dreams that they have with starting a new life, despair and also love for their homeland which they have had to leave. Warning there is strong language, violence and disturbing images. If you saw images on the news about Syria it still doesn’t give you the full insight into what it was like but watching this film is horrific and you can’t believe what just one family went through. This is a film that went straight out onto T.V. but also the cinema at the same time. This is an extremely thought provoking film which is as much about marriage as about the situation in Syria. A very well made documentary film. How this didn’t even get nominated for Best Documentary at this years Academy Awards I think is totally wrong.
