Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Actors: Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason
Year: 1959
Genre: Adventure, Classics, Drama and Thriller
Conclusion: 5/5
A top performance from Cary Grant. One of the greatest Alfred Hitchcock movies ever to be made. The actor James Mason suffered a severe heart attack just shortly after filming. Cary Grant was reluctant to accept this role as he was much older than the character. The working title for this film was called ‘In a Northwesterly Direction’. This is on Barry Norman’s list of 100 Greatest Films of all time that he produced at the start of 2012 in the Radio Times. One film critic wrote about this film ‘It has all the classic elements of a Hitchcock film – well timed suspense, an overall mystery, a compelling cast and some brilliantly conceived scenes’.
