This is a very meaningful true to life documentary. With this  people have made comparisons with the film Marie Antoinette as it is quite a similar story. The performances in this were fantastic. The Swedish actress Alicia Vikander had to learn Danish in order to do this film. Do not judge the film by the poster. Film critic Mark Kermode wrote about this film  ‘A Royal Affair is a wonderfully layered film that dazzles the eye, quickens the heart, and challenges the intellect at every turn’.
