LEVIATHAN
Leviathan
Review: About the personal costs of political corruption in modern Russia.
Director: Andrey Zvyagintsev
Actors: Aleksey Serebryakov, Elena Lyadova and Roman Madyanov
Year: 2014
Genre: Drama
Conclusion: 4/5
I found this to be really slow to start off with but then it picked up half way through. Not your normal typical film. It took a while to get into. It is over two hours so very long. The scenery in this is spectacular and the camera work was extraordinary. The story itself was really grim. I felt like I needed a stiff drink. The whale skeleton in this film was made out of metal. After watching this I felt like I needed to watch a comedy or watch something that was going to make me laugh. At the Golden Globe Awards in 2015 this won the Best Foreign Language Film Award. In 2014 at the Cannes Film Festival this won the Best Screenplay Award.
