Dallas Buyers Club

DALLAS BUYERS CLUB
Dallas Buyers Club
Review: Based on a true story of Ron Woodroof.  In 1985 he was diagnosed with having HIV and was given 30 days to live. He then decided to help people with the same condition as himself.
Director: Jean-Marc Vallee
Actors: Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner
Year: 2013
Genre: Biography and Drama
Conclusion: 3/5
Excellent performances from Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto. I don’t think that there has been enough coverage about Jennifer Garner’s acting which was also brilliant. She has been a bit in the shadow of the other two actors. Matthew McConaughey lost 47 pounds in order to do this role while Jared Leto lost 30 pounds for his role. This is a disturbing but also a very inspirational film. At the Academy Awards in 2014 this won 3 Oscars. They were for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Matthew McConaughey), Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role (Jared Leto) and for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling. At the Golden Globes the same year it won 2 awards and they were for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama (Matthew McConaughey) and also Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Jared Leto).
